Welcome to the original home of the "Freshwater" folk instrument. Our family-run company set in the Highlands of Scotland has been handcrafting a range of high quality string instruments for over 16 years; ranging from the mandolin to the mandocello.

Each instrument is made to the requirements of our customer, offering a choice of quality tone-woods and fittings.

There are 14 different acoustic/electric instruments available with a choice of alternatives such as a larger box, different soundboard material and left-handed playing preference. We build Freshwater Instruments for customers here in the UK and many other countries.

Our most important policy here at Fretted Folk Musical Instruments, is to offer a good personal and friendly service to our customers, direct from the craftsman himself, and to produce a quality instrument at a price that will suit most peoples' pocket.
